“When you’re younger and you think about becoming a lawyer, you think of men and women in suits. It’s a prestigious, respectable profession, but then as you get older you really begin to see, through your schooling and experience what a lawyer actually does,” said David. “You learn over time that there are mammoth corporations, powerful individuals, and powerful entities that aren’t always willing to do the right thing voluntarily. The schooling I had allowed me the opportunity to be exposed to all walks of life and all demographics, whether rich, poor, or middle class. While each individual is unique, I have an understanding of other individuals who have come from that same type of background and have an understanding of not only their injuries but also what they are going to be confronted with or the problems that may arise and how we can best take care of that person.”

“It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, or if you’ve made a million dollars in your life or you’re currently unemployed – none of that matters to me,” said David. “As a lawyer, it’s my job to help individuals overcome obstacles. I enjoy representing people without the funds to battle powerful companies, disabled people, and injured people seeking representation against the powers that be. I’ve found it very inspiring and gratifying to represent people, no matter what type of odds they were being confronted with, knowing that with the right approach I can make a difference and empower my clients to have a real shot at winning a fair judgment against any adversary.”

“We take cases to trial that need to go to trial, and David is very well-versed in all aspects of the litigation process,” said Attorney Tim O’Brien. “You don’t work at Hauptman O’Brien unless you are an experienced trial attorney. The good thing is that the other attorneys he is up against know that too. We don’t take all of our cases to trial, but the fact that they know we will go to trial if needed prevents them from shortchanging or under-compensating our clients. “My wife and I have been married for nearly two decades,” said David. “We have two sons, so we spend our days watching the boys play sports, and enjoying our neighborhood community. I’m president of my neighborhood association and on the Omaha North High Foundation board. I’m also on the service league board for The Partnership for Kids, a mentoring group for OPS kids in poverty. I enjoy volunteering at Offutt to support our men and women who serve. All of this is aimed at being a contributing member of our community. I’ve worked very hard, I’ve been very fortunate, and I like giving back.
